Etzel is going to jail after biting his mother's dog and choking it so
hard that its eye popped out. The West Palm Beach man was sentenced to a
year in jail for animal cruelty after taunting the little dog and then severely hurting the pooch.
According to MSN News on November 7, the 37-year-old man who weighs 375 lbs and towers over the shih tzu at 6-foot-8-inches tall, was drinking when he started taunting his mother's dog, Cujo. Etzel's mother told police that her son was teasing the little dog trying to get the dog to bite him.
Sports Act News reports today that Etzel's mother said he was "drunk" at the time he hurt the dog. Along with a year in jail for biting and hurting the dog, Etzel was ordered into alcohol treatment and anger management.
When the dog did bite him, Etzel bit the dog back on its face. He then started to choke the dog, putting his hands around his neck. The pressure of that choking popped the dog's eye out of its socket.
While the veterinarian was able to put the dog's eye back in, the pup will be blind in that eye for the rest of its life. The veterinarian said that the severity of the dog's injuries are comparable to a dog that has been hit by a car or attacked by another dog.
